I painted this work with great respect to Muslims around the world. This painting is about the perception of Islam on the global stage, and takes place on an Infinite Chess Board. The white pieces represent the freeing aspects, surrender and wonderment found in Islamic texts throughout the centuries. In opposition, the dark pieces reflect the violent interpretations of Jihad, especially prevalent in the 21st century. In the center, the finger points towards the direction of the sky: the presence of Allah.
